Soul Stirring, trained by Kazuo Fujisawa for Shadai Race Horse, was the only filly in the field of eight
First Frankel winner in Japan
Taken from European Bloodstock News, 1st August 2016:
The mighty Frankel has conquered another country. Yesterday (31st July) at Sapporo his daughter Soul Stirring, out of the Champion Stacelita (Monsun), landed the newcomers’ event over 1800m becoming the ninth individual winner (and the fourth filly) from her sire’s first 12 runners worldwide.
The big strong filly, sent off odds-on, was given a smooth ride by French jockey Christophe Patrice Lemaire, who has also won the Gr.1 Prix de Diane, Gr.1 Prix Vermeille and Gr.1 Prix Saint Alary on Stacelita.
Soul Stirring made her move four wide around the last turn and got up to beat the second favourite Admire Mamba (Manhattan Cafe) by a neck, the pair five lengths clear of the rest of the field. Soul Stirring, trained by Kazuo Fujisawa for Shadai Race Horse, was the only filly in the field of eight [with no weight allowance] and clocked the last 600 meters in 34.2, a fast sectional time.
Stacelita, bred by Jean Pierre Dubois and trained by Jean Claude Rouget for owner Martin Schwartz, added another Gr.1 win to her record during her four-year-old campaign, the Prix Jean Romanet, and two more at five in the US when trained by Chad Brown.
