Frankel achieved his 15th individual first crop winner of the season when Monarchs Glen won the nine furlong maiden at Goodwood on Sunday (9th October). Clear after two furlongs, the Juddmonte-bred colt - who was second at the same track last month on debut - was never seriously challenged and won by a length and a quarter. The peerless champion Frankel has made a flying start to his stud career this year, and as such it shouldn't have come as a surprise that his second-crop yearlings would be highly sought after at Tattersalls this week. The Juddmonte resident had 10 sell for 7,335,000gns and an average of 733,500gns, and his three seven-figure lots were headed by Floors Stud's son of dual champion filly Attraction (Efisio) (lot 475). Like the session-topping colt, the bay was hammered down to Angus Gold, this time for 1.6-million guineas.

Frankel got off to the very best start as a sire on Friday (13th May) when his first runner Cunco took a maiden at Newbury in impressive style. Despite showing greenness early on, Cunco won readily by three quarters of a length. Frankel's half-brother Morpheus (pictured as a foal) won his first race yesterday, providing a small but fitting tribute to his late trainer, Sir Henry Cecil, who sadly passed away earlier this week. Favourite Frankel Memories

Ian Mongan - One of the best aspects of the Frankel story was that it had so many key players, aside from trainer Sir Henry Cecil and jockey Tom Queally. His groom Sandeep Gauravaram became a familiar figure to race fans and Shane Fetherstonhaugh, who rode the horse each day at home, also played a major part. Then there was Bullet Train, the three-parts brother to Frankel.
