Frankel filly the top priced foal on day one of Arqana sale

Taken from European Bloodstock News, 4th December 2016:

The top-priced foal of the day, a wildcard entry Lot 170, was a daughter of Frankel and the Listed winner Ascot Family (Desert Style), who was consigned by Haras des Capucines and bought by Hugo Merry Bloodstock for €450,000.

The filly is a half-sister to Family One also known as Nordic One (Dubai Destination), who won at Gr.2 and Gr.3 level and was placed in the Gr.1 Prix Morny before being exported to Hong Kong, where he has won twice.

Merry explained: “I think everyone has been bitten by ‘Frankelitis’ at the moment! She is for Andrew Rosen, a New York-based client of mine, who has horses in training in Ireland, England and the States [including the dual Gr.3 winner J Wonder and the Gr.3 Prestige Stakes winner Theyskens’ Theory, as well as having a share in the Gr.2 Vintage Stakes winner War Decree, trained by Aidan O’Brien].

"He has a lot of nice broodmares based at Claiborne Stud. We will race her and keep her to breed from afterwards. She is a lovely mover. She was expensive, but you have to step up to get a filly like her.”

Her dam Ascot Family (Desert Style) won the Listed Prix des Jouvenceaux et des Jouvencelles and is from the immediate family of the dual Gr.1 winner and young sire Lethal Force (Dark Angel), the dual Gr.1 winner Flotilla (Mizzen Mast) and the Gr.1 Haydock Sprint Cup winner G Force (Tamayuz).
